Siemphony is in beta and still being built. How a rule earns its badge.

Siemphony’s repertoire

Database client launched by a script host or Office parent

Matches execution of a command-line database client — the SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Oracle and SQLite tools — when its parent is one of the processes MITRE calls out in this analytic as an odd launcher: explorer.exe (an interactive double-click rather than automation), a script host, or an Office application. Both halves sit on a single field each so the rule stays a flat AND and renders in every backend. cmd.exe is deliberately absent from the parent list: it is the normal path for scheduled backup and ETL batch jobs, and including it would drown the rule. The analytic's full behaviour is a correlation — client execution, then a .sql/.bak/.csv write, then an outbound transfer above MaxTransferVolume — which Sigma cannot express across three log sources with a time window, so this is the execution precursor only. UNVERIFIED AS AUTHORED — derived from MITRE ATT&CK DET0242, not hand-written and not tested by its author. Any lab result is on this rule's own page.Full description

The detection

The 4 SIEM queries below are previews produced by Siemphony’s own translator, not pySigma, and none has been executed against a real backend — review before you deploy.
